55wordstory - Season 4 - Theme 12 - Hypocrisy

From @vanwynkle:

Words are like tissue paper. Do you think twice before picking one out, adorning it with mucus, and tossing it in the bin? Conviction shouldn’t be a prerequisite for speech, that’s stupid! There should be divergence between words and belief. Humanity is built on this solemn premise. How else will I run this ruddy nation?!

From @oink1729:

The dashing young Lord Macaulay tried to have sex with women, men, servants, cattle, stones, anything that would work for him – anything, yet always the same feelings of shame, disgust, and humiliation. Luckily for him, he was able to put these experiences to good use when drafting Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code.

From @oink1729:

His emaciated body now merely a cancer experiment, he had finally met himself, joyfully, “in that field beyond the ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing”. He resumed writing, “..he placed his hand on his back and kissed him, gently at first..”, but was interrupted:

“Sir! A priest is here with your wife, they're both very worried!”

From @leztah:

“Knowledge is our only salvation”, he said, extolling the pursuit of wisdom. “Our bodies will rot, our beauty will fade. But it is our thoughts and ideas that will make us immortal. No beauty in this universe or any other equals that of an enlightened mind.

He swiped left on Tinder because she wore glasses.

From @_ankitachauhan:

She has no character because she has a friend of another gender.
She was raped because she was drunk.

He was disowned because he forgot to ask whom to love.
He was slapped because he was making love.

Confused me!
As per I know we inherited freedom, or hypocrisy?
Isn’t Forced perception count as illegal?

From runwayrenegade:

Countless nods, many obliging smiles and a thousand affirmative actions later, the façade was concrete. Truths merged with lies and lines were blurred. Which side was he on? His parents would have been ashamed. It’s a good thing they left. They couldn’t care for him and he couldn’t care less.

55wordstory - Season 4 - Theme 11 - Owl

From @thatdelhidamsel:

I look at them pass by. I judge and assess. I look at people fooling each other, loving each other and doing both of these at the same time. There's good and there's evil. There's truth and its flaws. There is love and then there is loss. I watch them, a denizen of the night.

From @leztah:

Too wise for her age. A soul older than her waking years. She’d spend endless nights dispensing advice on Quora and hosting self-help and motivational podcasts. Her many admirers would fall in love with a façade. Come morning, the sun would be too high for a short, pudgy girl to look up and stare at.

From runawayrenegade:

Creature of the night, and purveyor of all that is wrong and right, the owl is faced with odds like no other. Jolly was not your average owl. She was the rebel who had risen against the coven. They all howled and cried foul, as a harbinger of love, light and good fortune she became.

From @meetumeetu:

“Owls painted on her room’s wall, an origami owl, an owl locket in her necklace, now she wants an owl tattoo! Doctor, surely her psyche is saying something.”

Before the psychiatrist could say anything, the eleven year old said, “Mom, I’m wise in English and quite a fool in Hindi, doesn’t that say it all?”

From @oink1729:

Flesh loosely hung over old bones, “Owl41” sat down, opened “ask.fm”, and asked yet another beautiful young lady if she was afraid of death. Alone in the grand old house where he had once run as a child, but that now seemed to be dying with him, neatly collating their responses nourished his threadbare existence.

From @dr_lucy_says:

Stepping into the water one last time, he knew there won't be another. Still, he cast his net. It came back empty. He couldn't stay any longer; the big yellow disk was gone. Back home, he stowed away the catch which he would sell tomorrow. He then picked his books and headed towards the school.

From @_ankitachauhan:

'A Owl'
'An… an owl, a,e,i,o,u articles?'
'Oh yes mumma! An Owl'
I smiled. I was introduced with a new bird, An owl, lovely creature can rotate its neck 180 degrees, who stays awake at night, maybe shy? Like a newly bride with inquisitive eyes, and suddenly it turned into inauspicious.
'We’re living in Stone-Age?'

From @CruciFire:

* 2 am*

“Hello, this is Preeti, how may I help you?”
“I need two mouses.”
“We don’t serve mouses.”
“How about a hare? One by two?”
“Err, what?!”
“Hares? Rabbits? How about some raw fish?”
“Is this some kinda joke? Who is this?”

“This is Owl. You are TinyOwl, the food ordering service, right?”

55wordstory - Season 4 - Theme 10 - Sulphur

From @oink1729:

He named the nurses after the elements; Hydrogen, a sweet smile; Sulphur, a little clumsy sometimes; Beryllium with her tinkling earrings. Machines, prognoses, the suns faint praise on the ceiling in the evenings, the possibilities of life reduced to which way to try and turn. It was Beryllium who found him, dead, at 4.21 a.m.

From @_ankitachauhan:

“Sulphur store is trending on twitter.”
“S —Atomic no. 16 —The burning train… Err The burning stone? Oh! Man, a decade passed yet chemistry following me.”

“She suffered, she fought and she was assaulted brutally at that night, humanity leading towards doomsday. Such a monster.”

“What was that?”
“Let it be.”

From @CruciFire:

“Happy sweet 16, my dear S.
Here is a bottle of Shiraz to kick off your journey through the better things in life.”

*She took the first sip and fell down grabbing her neck*

“Now, to find a 32 year old, in his/her 6th week.”

*He put on a hat and shades and walked away.*

From @mMrunal:

"I think we should part our ways now. We both have a completely different perspective for future. Moreover, I think you deserve someone better than me. I need a break from you."

His face suddenly took on a morose expression.

Seeing her kissing his classmate the very next day acted as sulphur for his hellfire.

From @aaroo4:

The streets were empty,a single light glowed in the dark, giving him hope. He rushed in, bought the pill and raced home. His grandmother swallowed it in a gulp .Heaving a sigh of relief, he sat on the bed. A minute later a gasp broke the silence and he heard “Does it contain sulphur?”

55wordstory - Season 4 - Theme 9 - Hidden

From @roshd:

“It is not you, it’s me”
“ I know, why don’t you open up more? What’s with the long, brooding silences?”

A long silence was her reply. Again.

He put his arm around her and squeezed her tightly. Again. In his book, love meant making her comfortable not stripping her down to her naked soul.

From @oink1729:

“His ass. An ass nations could go to war over.”
“David, vulgarity – and at a wedding!”
“Updating a classical text! Helen of Troy – 'The face that launched a thousand ships'? It's a noble sentiment!”
“We should write a queer Iliad and Odyssey!”
“Greek literature: the gay version!”

Hidden in society, hidden in literature.

From @_ankitachauhan:

Just a crumpled paper, inked with few words, she put it close to her rib-cage and struggled with entanglements, ‘these Y-generation kids would never able to decipher handwritten letters’. She glared at wet paper again— whispering name, sense of belonging, warmth of memories and hidden promises— touched her misty eyes. ‘Email? Mere cold love’

From @thatdelhidamsel:

I look at him from the corner of my eye. I conceal my thoughts behind the curtains of my mind. Will he ever know? Will I ever show? My love remains alien and forbidden. I'm not afraid of rejection, but am afraid of commitment. I'm broken and living an eternal winter, and this remains hidden.

From @oink1729:

Reginald Wrongflop Sauce had an idea for a blog, “55wordporn”.

In a reverie he composed the first entry: “She turned around, the sunlight coruscating through her hair..”

“MR. SAUCE CAN YOU HEAR ME?”

“Lets get your teeth in and take you to the toilet Mr. Sauce, your children are visiting later.”

Ah! Joyful hidden inner-life!

55wordstory - Season 4 - Theme 8 - Her

From @oink1729:

After the storm, the plastic chairs and table washed of our laughter. Thin puddles reflecting an empty sky, wine glasses half full of rainwater. Indoors, the sofa we fucked on, a leering vacancy. Her husband will meet her about now, I thought, clearing up. And I'm supposed to find it funny, or not to care.

From @tweettabulous:

Who knew things were about to change? Suddenly I was expected to be more responsible and lead by example. Everything I owned wasn't mine anymore. Conflicting emotions, insecure mind and alien concept of sharing had to be adapted.

But, I'd give up the world to make her smile. My favorite prayer come true. My sister.

From @_ankitachauhan:

In the silence, she was surrounded with nothing but shattered pieces of her silenced voice. She felt suffocated amidst a millions of verbal presents bestowed upon her last night. Her dream vanished into cold tears. “Abort her” her man’s words still babbling in her ears and made her suspicious “does she really own her body.”

From @_souringpie:

This word primarily made you think of someone, maybe your mother, wife, daughter, grandmother, sister, friend, girlfriend, crush, celebrity or fictional character. Perhaps your story doesn’t feature them. She’s nonetheless imprinted into your subconscious.

Do yourself a favor. Show her how special she is to you. Revive your own story.

For You and For Her.

55wordstory - Season 4 - Theme 7 - Transformation

From @thatdelhidamsel:

I waited in the hallway. My Mom had been gone for hours. My heart was contracting in my chest, my world was intertwining around it. The reports  came and were normal. I sobbed and hugged Mom.

That's when she said: You're not my little girl anymore. You held me when I fell. You're my support.

From @oink1729:

“Cunnilingus, your majesty, is the name of a baby elephant, recently born to much joy in the great city of Hyderabad.”. Most unfortunately for my ancestor Timothy Wrongflop, this “witticism” was taken as serious knowledge by the prince regent, and used to impress princess Eugene. The transformation from valued courtier to prison was swiftly completed.

From @aaroo4:

With every word, her hopes came crashing down.It was the only thing she had dreamt off. The look of triumph crept in slowly making him look like a demon possesed.

She looked up, stood ground, said "No, I don't agree" and calmly walked out.

He stared..speechless. "whaa. you..."

From @TheQuietBelle_ :

The long tresses, the kohl lining her eyes, the touch of the lipstick, the dress, the heels, the new curves of her body. Everything felt so new. So unfamiliar. Yet so familiar. So right. After years of fighting her natural form, the transformation had finally arrived. Bruce was now Caitlyn.

From @CruciFire:

“I don’t have talent,  a job, or a girl. My life sucks big time, Optimus!”

“Sam Witwicky, empirical evidence is applicable to perceptual experience. The deeper reality of existence transcends sensory experience. Consciousness is universal. Perspective is personal.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?”

Sam watches as the Autobot Leader transforms into Deepak Chopra.

55wordstory - Season 4 - Theme 6 - Ennui

From @CruciFire:

“NOOOOOOOOOOO…”

His voice trailed off as he got pulled into the abyss.

“SOMEONE HELP ME…”

Dirty face. Muddy hands. Scraped knees.
Unable to breathe, he tried to stand up.

*1 message received*

“Wanna catch up over a drink?”

Edge of a cliff. Warm sunshine. Morning breeze.

“Dude, you have *no* idea how bored I was!”

From @DNRamki:

He had established a routine. He’d wake up, check Twitter, and head off to work. Ideas would appear in his head, but often went unheeded.

Late in the night, he’d sit in the darkness, gather those ideas, sift through them, and pen down 55 words.

One day, he woke up, and the words had stopped.

From @_ankitachauhan:

'Reading and always reading, don’t you ever get bored? If I were you I would have already died of ennui.’ Her perplexing eyes triggered a question at him.

‘Have you ever dealt with the waves of hollowness inside you? I just want to crack that silhouette of monotonous life.’ And he teetered over to bookshelves.

From @oink1729:

Ennui as wide as the manicured lawn. The blue sky locked onto the high walls of Wrongflop mansions, the silence indoors, the ivory chess pieces catching the sun, the fountains endlessly recycling their water. Days defined only by waking and sleeping. Those kind of empty days. And still no news from London! What had happened?
